Album: Denver (95 images)

I went on a trip to Denver for work, and managed to take a lot of pictures of the area, including downtown, Red Rocks Park, and Buffalo Bill's Grave.

This isn't Denver, it's actually Golden Gardens Park in Seattle the day before I left. Josh and Lewis putting up a volleyball net. Tom, Lewis, and Matt putting up the other end of the net. Horrible traffic. Mt. Rainier (and Mt. St. Helens?) on the way out of Sea-Tac. My home for the week. A bell tower on the Denver University campus. The gas was really cheap compared to Seattle and Chicago. GPS: 'Your destination is on your right.' Me: 'I don't think so.' I don't think I've ever seen a road with this many lanes. One of the test sites. I thought it was a bit ironic to fly to Denver from Seattle to go to Starbucks. Denver city limit, elevation 5280 feet. Looking West at the Front Range. On the Denver University campus. Getting near the foothills West of Denver. Foothills. Driving South/East on C-470. Hulk smash burger! An old steakhouse, seen from the RTD light rail. Pepsi Center. I don't think that train is going anywhere. Me at Union Station at the end of the 16th St. Mall. The 16th St. Mall. A narrow tower. I never did figure out what 'Bovine Metropolis' was. The entrance to the Denver Performing Arts complex. There was a giant bear trying to break into the convention center. The bear again. The Denver City and County building (at night). Looking into downtown Denver. Old and new, I liked the reflection in the building on the right. More downtown Denver. I think this was some art. Luckily there was not an emergency, or we would have had to try to push this button on the ceiling. I-25 at Orchard St. So many lanes! After three days of temperatures in the upper 70s... it snowed. Jathurshun shoveling snow off the car so we can go out and test. My turn. Note that Jathurshun's side has already started covering up again, and my hair has a layer of snow on it. Laughing at how stupid the weather was. Luckily the rental car came with that ice scraper/brush. Driving to a test site. Umm... A cool drive-through tunnel at Red Rocks Park. CCC statue at Red Rocks Park. Red Rocks. View of downtown Denver from Red Rocks. A panoramic view from the top of the amphitheater. Another view from the top of the Red Rocks amphitheater. Seating and more red rocks. I like the different lines and curves. What a view. I think it would be hard to pay attention to the show. I think it holds about 9,500 people. There's me at Red Rocks Park. Jathurshun at Red Rocks Park. Looking up at the side of the Red Rocks amphitheater. This is a model of the amphitheater. They had dinosaur bits in the Visitors Center. The view from another part of Red Rocks Park. Looking up the hill. I think it would be hard to find a picnic shelter with a better view. Mountain goats! Driving on I-70 into the Front Range. Silver Plume city limit, elevation 9,118 feet. We half expected airplanes to be flying along the freeway with us. The City of Denver Buffalo Herd. There was a plaque saying that this was the 'Most scenic overpass (grade separation).' I agree. Buffalo Bill's grave. Creepy. Keep off the buffalo! Looking at downtown Denver from Lookout Mountain. Back in downtown. I think this is the D&F Tower. Tall buildings. This building had a strange sloping face. The U.S. Courthouse. Shiny! The tall building was wrapped around this church. Please slide your bike into the train tracks? Another historic church in downtown. There wasn't anything saying who this was, so Jathurshun decided it was Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones). Key Bank towers. The Colorado State Capitol. A replica Liberty Bell. Jathurshun in front of the Denver Art museum. Those apartments are crooked. Big art. I thought this looked like a scene from a cartoon, not real buildings. Moo! Apartments near the Art Museum. They can count! Outside the U.S. Mint. They apparently close at 2 PM. The back side of the City and County building. Back inside the Denver airport. Inside the train tunnel under the airport. I thought this flight was going to Seattle, not Tokyo. Maybe I should just stay on it... My ride, and an interestingly located handprint on the window/tower. It's hard to see in this picture, but there was a cool reflection of the plane's fuselage on the engine. Heading back West over the Rockies. More snowy mountains.
