The first snow of the season on December 1st. We got a few inches throughout the day, though it all melted before the weekend ended. Jake did his annual birthday dance to celebrate his birthday on December 3rd. Lake Padden in Bellingham, shortly after Christmas. Snow at my parent's house in Bellingham. It conveniently didn't stick to the driveway. Classic Bellingham street sign. Setting out for Pullman. Although the mountains were snowy, I-90 through the pass was still easy to drive. Approaching the summit. Still heading East to 'Poka' Heading down the other side. The snow was pretty deep off the road. The ramps looked pretty treacherous. That's the sun trying to shine through the clouds. I'm glad I wasn't driving, it was hard to see anything. A nice view once we drove out of the low clouds. Wind turbines along the freeway. Dropping down into the clouds in the gorge. The gorge, crossing the Columbia. There are very steep hills there, but they can't be seen. Supposedly this is a reiver, but it sure looks like a lake to me. This is where we exited I-90 to get on highway 26 to Pullman. The sun finally got below the clouds near the end of the day. The road is very straight, you can see it cresting each successive hill in the distance. Those are big letters. Strange patterns of snowy vs. not. At Brian's apartment in Pullman. Very dangerous looking icicles outside the FSAE shop at WSU. Brian and Dad working in the shop. Inside a welder. Driving into a conduit box. The label on the box beign drilled into. Complicated. Cool looking drill bit. If it weren't made of metal I'd think it was a flower. 88 Bustling downtown Pullman. Do you think WSU is important to the city? The edge of town. Water, outside, not frozen. Be sure to use a .032 orifice. This looks serious. The new welder turned on. Success! On the WSU campus. Watch out for the spiky monster in the box. It may startle your children. Continuing the campus tour. img_3363.jpg A book man, outside the library. The stadium. That's Idaho over there. I liked the way these hills looked. The clock tower. Picture required. I really like the way this building looked. A big stone arch. Heading back to Seattle across the rolling hills of snow. Somehow I doubt there will be fresh fruit anytime soon. The pass was not nearly as good on the trip back. That poor guy, trying to figure out how to put on his chains. Ugh. How many lanes are supposed to be here? 45 seems a little high... Brian told me I had to take a picture of the tunnel. It's a little late for this sign, I doubt anyone without chains could have made it this far. Mariko took this picture of Suzzallo on the UW campus. Mariko in Red Square. Me and Mariko in the Quad. Mike and Mariko. The library in downtown Seattle. Diver in a tank at the Seattle Aquarium. Octopus. There was a little fish tha kept swimming inside the gills on the fish. Mike and I were hoping it would get eaten, but it always came back out. Puffer fish! Lion fish. Weird yellow fish. Colorful little crab. Underwater dome. Big stalks. Otters! A big, empty container ship. Looking up at downtown. Mariko was not amused by something. Looking at downtown from Alki. The Seattle skyline. Mike and me at Alki. Classic Seattle. Me and Mariko at Alki. Mike and Mariko. Mike and me. Mariko decided to take close-ups of all of us. This is Mike. It's me! Mariko. Mount Rainier from the West Seattle bridge. Ah, the Ave. Sunset over Lake Washington, from Kirkland. Mariko bowling at Tech City in Kirkland. Mike going for the spare. Mariko made a nice paper crane out of a napkin at the Celtic Bayou on New Year's Eve. Me, Luke, and Mike on NYE. Back together for the first time since Mike left for Japan two years ago. We discovered to our dismay that I don't have a corkscrew. I did, however, have a regular screw and a screwdriver. Success!
