A few pictures from an unexpected Spring snow in Redmond, and many more from a hiking trip that Tom, Kristina, and I went on up Tiger Mountain.

Who'd have guessed? Snow in Redmond on the 29th of March. Snowy trees. Snowy walkway. More falling snow, nice big flakes. The entrance to the West Tiger Mountain recreation area. Some crazy girl (Kristina) running down the mountain to meet us at the parking lot. Up the road further to the trailhead. Ironically this is not the highest point, far from it. Onward! Nice greenery. Tom was a gentleman and helped pull Kristina up the hill when it got slushy. Only 1.9 more miles. Traipsing through the snow. The snow is getting deeper. Snow frozen onto tree branches. Trying not to slide off the trail. img_3613.jpg This tree managed to fall and wedge itself in between 4 or 5 others. A different angle. Traffic jam! Only 0.9 more miles! Cool arching branches. It's me! Kristina trying to sled down a hill on her boots. How far was the top again? Almost... there... Snow covered trees fading into the distance. Winter wonderland. There seems to have been an accident. A Tom shaped hole in the snow. We made it! Surveying the scene. Kristina swears that the view is great when it isn't actively snowing. Trying (not) to fall off the mountain. One last look. Snowy twig. Of course, it starts to clear a few minutes after we leave the summit. Trees weighted down with snow. Little did we know what they were planning... The sun! These trees started a snowball fight with us. We didn't stand a chance. I don't think I've ever been in a snowball fight with a forest before. Tom fell victim to one of many piles of snow dropping from the trees. Switchback. Dodging falling snow. Making our escape. You can see Issaquah and Lake Sammamish in the distance.
