Japan - Getting There

Japan - Day 1 - Mike's Lab, Shibuya, Shinjuku, and a Dinner Party
Here's a set of pictures from my first full day in Tokyo, with a trip out to Mike's lab, some wandering in Shinjuku, and a dinner party in Ikebura with Makoto, Yuri, Andrew, Saho, and Ayumi.
Japan - Day 2 - Tsukiji, Roppongi, Shibuya, Harajuku, Meiji Shrine, Shimbashi
These pictures are from a very busy day in Tokyo, starting with an early morning trip to the Tsukiji fish market. That was followed up with some exploring in Roppongi, and capped off with an excursion in Shibuya, a brief walk past Harajuku, and a trip to the Meiji Shrine.
Japan - Day 3 - Shibuya, Akihabara, Komaba
Pictures from a fairly laid back day, starting with lunch in Shibuya, then wandering in Akihabara, and capped off with okonomiyaki for dinner in Komaba.
Japan - Day 4 - Yokohama, Shiodome, Roppongi
I took a day trip down to Yokohama today, including a venture up to the top of the Landmark tower, 69 floors up. Later in the afternoon I met Mike and some friends in Roppongi for Udon, darts, and billiards.
Japan - Day 5 - Nikko, Odaiba
This set of pictures covers a trip north to the shrines and temples in Nikko, plus some night photography from Odaiba of the Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Tower, and other assorted buildings.
Japan - Day 6 - Komaba, Shinjuku, Ueno, Asakusa
Pictures from the sixth day of my ventures in Japan, with new shots from Komaba and Shinjuku and a trip to Ueno and Asakusa.
Japan - Day 7 - Shinkansen and Kyoto
Here are some pictures from the first day of my excursion to Kyoto, starting with the Shinkansen (bullet train) ride and finishing with a late afternoon and evening walk through some of the shrines and temples. Unfortunately, since it was late on a Sunday, many of them were closed.
Japan - Day 8 - Nara and Kyoto
I started off the day with a trip south to Nara, and spent a few hours exploring the park, temples, and shrines there. In the afternoon I returned to Kyoto and visted the Heian Shrine and several other temples along the Philospher's Path, including Ginkakuji Temple, which I arrived at just before they shut the gates.
Japan - Day 9 - Kyoto and Osaka
On my last day in Kyoto I visited the Kyoto Imperial Gardens and Nijo Castle, then caught the train over to Osaka. After arriving there, in Shinsaibashi, I wandered through the Amerika-Mura (America Village) and the Dotombori Arcade mall.
